Jose Mourinho: Everton target 'no different' to Sean Dyche, according to Paul Merson

Everton finds themselves in a daunting relegation battle, with their chances of survival looking slim. It appears to be a close race between Everton and Ipswich for the drop. Mourinho's position in the league standings should be a cause for concern, as he needs to steer clear of the bottom of the table and aim for a higher position.

I just don't see how Mourinho does any differently to Sean Dyche. I don't see any difference in that. He's a massive name in football but I'd be careful with that one.

They're not scoring a lot of goals but it's not like Mourinho is going to come in and they're going to be free-flowing.

He had the best Chelsea team of all time and they weren't free-flowing. Winning 1-0, 2-0 every week, never letting in a goal, but Dyche doesn't let in too many goals either. It's a strange one for me. I think it's the owners wanting a massive football name.

If any job came up in the bottom three or four in the league, Dyche would get it because if anybody's going to get you out of trouble, he is.

If you're going to bring someone in to take Dyche's place, you have to bring in someone who has thick skin, like Mourinho. You have to bring in someone who's going to do it his way but there aren't many of them around.

I have a lot of respect for Dyche because he does it his way and doesn't listen to the crowd or think he's got to go gung-ho. He says: 'this is my team and we'll be hard to beat'.

They played three of the biggest teams in the country in Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City and drew three games. But then in the next minute, they go and they lose at home to Nottingham Forest and then Bournemouth. Instead of being three undefeated, it becomes four and five without a win.
